A Life Journey

We were in the middle of a 1,300 mile Harley ride that took us to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Sacramento, through Lake Tahoe, to Carson City and Virginia City, NV, and to the base of Mt. Whitney. It was a five day journey that would start the rest of our lives. It was Saturday night and we met the rest of our group for dinner at T-Bones Steakhouse in Sacramento. The four tables in the room were filled with about 50 of our friends. As we ordered, I sat there anxiously. Jennifer asked me what was wrong and why I was sweating, but I played it off as an upset stomach. After what seemed like an eternity, the time was right. With video cameras rolling, I stood up and started the toasts. I first thanked my buddy who had organized the events and after the applause quieted, I turned my attention to Jennifer. She had no idea what I was doing when I asked her to join me in front of the group. As she walked up, I could hardly breath and my heart was racing like never before. I told her how much I loved her, took a knee, and asked her to be my wife. I was completed when she said "Yes".
