The Playhouse

We were house-sitting for my parents back at my childhood home, a place that has always been incredibly special and dear to me. My parents departed on their trip around 5pm, leaving Dave and I in charge of the house, Calvin, Dutch, and Miss Kitty. It was shaping up to be a wonderful weekend already in my eyes.

As a child, I had a playhouse that my dad built for me. It was an amazing place for a young girl to play as it was complete with a cabinet and kitchen table. And, it even had an upstairs!! The upstairs level had a slide coming out of one side of it, so it was responsible for many hours of my time as a kid. During those hours, I would so often dream of what my life would be like when I grew up . . . What type of job I'd have . . . Where I would live . . . What the world would be like . . . And most of all, what type of man I wanted to meet and fall in love with. What type of man I would marry someday.

Around the first of July, I told Dave about this playhouse, and the types of dreams I used to create while in it. While we were home for Independence Day, he asked me to show him where the playhouse used to be, and I happily obliged.

Well, on Friday, August 1st around 7:00pm, Dave asked me to go for a walk with him. It seemed like a good idea as the weather was cooling off for the day and the sun was going down in the west . . . We walked around the yard for a bit, then he led me to that place where my playhouse used to be. He asked me again what I used to dream about, then told me that he too had dreams of his future life, when he was a little boy. He then proceeded to make me cry with some beautiful words about how he feels about me . . . Then, before I knew it, he was down on one knee . . . Tears were streaming from my eyes as he asked me to do him the honor of becoming his wife . . . All I could do was nod a "yes" as tears filled my eyes. With that the ring was placed on my finger and it was official -WE WERE ENGAGED!!! :)
